What is Flunil 10mg?
Flunil 10mg contains 10 mg of fluoxetine, the active ingredient in Prozac. It is made by Intas Pharmaceuticals. Fluoxetine is an antidepressant — it is not a painkiller and belongs in our mental-health range.

How Fluoxetine Works
Fluoxetine is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). It increases the amount of serotonin available between nerve cells in the brain, which over several weeks improves mood, anxiety and obsessive thoughts. Fluoxetine has a very long half-life — several days — so it builds up slowly, missed doses matter less, and it causes fewer withdrawal symptoms than most antidepressants when stopped.
Before You Start
Important safety warning
- Antidepressants can increase suicidal thoughts and behavior in children, teenagers and adults under 25, especially in the first weeks or after a dose change.
- Anyone starting fluoxetine — and their family — should watch for worsening depression, agitation, panic, unusual behavior or thoughts of self-harm, and contact a doctor straight away if they appear.

How to Take Flunil 10mg
- Panic disorder: 10 mg once a day for the first week, then usually 20 mg.
- Older adults or people with liver problems: often start at 10 mg.
- Take it in the morning — fluoxetine can make it harder to sleep if taken late in the day.
- It can be taken with or without food.
It usually takes 4–6 weeks to feel the full benefit. Keep taking it even if you feel no change at first, and do not stop suddenly — your doctor will tell you how to come off it when the time is right.
Side Effects
Side effects are most noticeable in the first 1–2 weeks and often settle.
Common and usually mild:
- Nausea or upset stomach
- Trouble sleeping or vivid dreams
- Feeling jittery or anxious at first
- Headache
- Reduced sex drive or delayed orgasm
- Sweating
Stop and get medical help right away if you have:
- Agitation, fever, sweating, fast heartbeat, muscle twitching or confusion — possible serotonin syndrome.
- Unusual bleeding or bruising, especially with NSAIDs or blood thinners.
- Racing thoughts, very high energy or reckless behavior — possible mania.
- A rash with fever or swelling.
Who Should Not Take It
Do not use Flunil if you:
- Take, or have taken in the last 14 days, an MAO inhibitor (such as phenelzine, selegiline, linezolid or methylene blue). Wait at least 5 weeks after stopping fluoxetine before starting an MAOI.
- Take pimozide or thioridazine.
- Are allergic to fluoxetine.
Talk to a doctor first if you:
- Take other medicines that affect serotonin — triptans, tramadol, lithium, St John’s Wort or other antidepressants.
- Take blood thinners, aspirin or NSAIDs regularly.
- Have bipolar disorder, epilepsy, glaucoma, diabetes, liver disease or a heart-rhythm problem.
- Are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding.

How to Store It
- Store at room temperature, below 86°F (30°C), away from heat, moisture and direct sunlight.
- Keep the tablets in their strip until you need one; do not keep them in the bathroom.
